The Roche Ireland team recently welcomed the Swiss Ambassador Jenny Piaget to the Dublin office. Roche is the largest Swiss company and the local team is proud of its presence and impact in Ireland. Meeting with the Ambassador was an opportunity to connect and consider ways of working together in Ireland that really help Roche maximise the impact of our medicines. There is always more work to be done when it comes to making a difference in the lives of patients and supporting the local healthcare system.
The organisation is committed to providing faster and fairer access to medicines and identified 3 opportunities for 2025.
Realisation of the Programme for Government. The programme for government calls out access to new medicines. Specifically, it states: “This Government is committed to ensuring that patients have access to innovative new medicines and treatments as quickly as possible”. There is opportunity for the government to take concrete action when it comes to ensuring all patients in Ireland have equitable and fast access to life-changing medicines.
Implementing a new IPHA Framework Agreement on the Pricing and Supply of Medicines. A new Agreement will be negotiated this year and we are working with the
National Life Sciences Strategy. We are in favour of the development of a new National Life Sciences Strategy to ensure that the pharma sector is fully supported and that Ireland becomes an island of innovation where patients can rapidly access innovation .
Roche’s medicines are only meaningful if they reach patients. The Ambassador has a clear understanding of our commitment to patients in Ireland and all we hope to achieve when it comes to providing access to medicines. We look forward to continuing to connect with her and enhancing Roche’s impact in Ireland.
