Neurology nurse specialists play a vital role in coordinating care and translating complex information into clear guidance that empowers patients to make informed decisions about their health. They offer emotional support during difficult moments, facilitate a shared approach to decision making, and ensure no one navigates their healthcare journey alone.

Roche recently partnered with MS Ireland to highlight the invaluable role of neurology nurse specialists in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) care and the importance of patient access to this service.

This campaign builds on the recent launch of Ireland’s first postgraduate diploma in neurology nursing, which addresses a long-standing gap in specialist education. Developed through close collaboration between academic, clinical and patient advocacy partners, the programme reflects a shared commitment to building a skilled and sustainable neurology nursing workforce, equipping nurses with advanced clinical, research and leadership skills, creating clear career pathways and strengthening capacity across neurology services.

Across Ireland, neurology nurse specialists are essential pillars of MS care, serving as essential connectors between patients, healthcare providers, and treatment pathways. Through this partnership, Roche has launched a video capturing the story of Bindu and Jen - a neurology nurse specialist and a person living with MS.

In Ireland, over 860,000 people are affected by a neurological condition, however a recent patient experience survey 1 from the Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) revealed a critical gap: over a third of respondents had never had an appointment with a specialist nurse, despite needing this service. When patients cannot access specialist nurses, they lack the coordinated support and treatment guidance needed for optimal outcomes.

A critical need exists for neurological nurse specialists, a priority that Roche Ireland continues to support through initiatives like the #MyNeurologyNurseAndMe campaign. This campaign serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of these specialists and the necessity of ensuring patient access to such essential supports

Together, Roche, MS Ireland and the Neurological Alliance of Ireland have a shared commitment of ensuring patients feel supported, empowered, and have access to the expert and compassionate care they deserve.
