Values in Action

The three Roche Values are core to how we want to behave as individuals, and collectively as an organization. They define fundamental attributes for guiding decisions and actions leading to increased innovation and business performance.
Integrity
We are consistently open, honest, ethical and genuine.
Integrity starts with being honest with yourself and understanding your own strengths and weaknesses. And it’s also about interacting with others in an open, genuine way; that’s a must for building a strong relationship of trust with anyone, whether inside or outside Roche. We must act ethically and honestly at all times.
Courage
We are entrepreneurial and thus take risks, reach beyond boundaries and experiment.
We should think like entrepreneurs and be prepared to try new ways of doing things whenever we are not convinced the old ways are right. We may not always feel comfort-able about taking a minority view or expressing criticism, but if we don’t speak up, we run the risk of not tackling necessary changes, whether out of complacency or an ill-conceived desire for harmony. This could seriously weaken our company in the long run.
Passion
We use our drive and commitment to energize, engage and inspire others.
Passion can express itself in highly visible ways, such as an enthusiastic speech or a persuasive presentation. But it can also be something as low key as a research scientist repeating an experiment over and over to make certain that an unexpected result isn’t an error and really could be a potentially important new discovery.
